Patrick Kapenga’s campaign launch in Coopersville drew a packed crowd and featured remarks from State Rep. Luke Meerman, House Speaker Pro Tempore Rachelle Smit, and Wisconsin State Sen. Chris Kapenga — signaling strong early support across the region.

Patrick Kapenga officially launched his campaign for Michigan House District 89 with a packed house in Coopersville, highlighting strong early momentum and deep community support.
Hosted at Coopersville Hardware, the event brought together local residents, community leaders, and supporters from across Ottawa and Allegan counties — a clear sign that voters are ready for steady, community-focused leadership.
The evening featured remarks from several respected leaders, including current State Representative Luke Meerman, Michigan House Speaker Pro Tempore Rachelle Smit, and Wisconsin State Senator Chris Kapenga.
Each speaker emphasized Patrick’s character, work ethic, and deep ties to the community.
Rachelle Smit praised Patrick’s readiness to serve, saying she believes he would be “a great person to serve in the Legislature with.”
State Representative Luke Meerman, who is stepping away from the seat, spoke to the importance of strong, principled leadership for the district and expressed confidence in Patrick’s ability to carry that forward.
Wisconsin State Senator Chris Kapenga highlighted Patrick’s business leadership and commitment to conservative values, noting the importance of sending proven leaders to state government.
“This campaign is about the people of this district,” Kapenga said. “It’s about making sure our communities are represented by someone who understands hard work, local business, and the values we live by every day.”
The overwhelming turnout underscored a growing sense of momentum behind the campaign as it heads into the critical early months.
Patrick also extended his appreciation to the local business community, giving special thanks to Coopersville Hardware for hosting the event and supporting the campaign.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the support we saw tonight,” Kapenga said. “This is just the beginning, and we’re building something strong together.”
With continued outreach, strong local backing, and a clear message focused on economic strength, local control, and community values, the Kapenga campaign is quickly gaining traction across District 89.
