Kapenga: District 89 Priorities Must Lead the Conversation in Lansing

After attending the State of the State in Lansing, Patrick Kapenga emphasized that District 89 families are focused on economic strength, responsible spending, and local control — priorities he is committed to fighting for.

Kapenga: District 89 Priorities Must Lead the Conversation in Lansing
Patrick Kapenga was in Lansing this week for Michigan’s annual State of the State address, connecting with local leaders and reinforcing the priorities that matter most to families across District 89. The event brought together lawmakers, community leaders, and delegates from across the state to hear Governor Gretchen Whitmer outline her agenda for the year ahead. While the Governor focused on her priorities, Kapenga says the conversations he’s having back home tell a different story. “People in District 89 are focused on economic confidence, responsible spending, and keeping more of what they earn,” Kapenga said. “They want leadership that respects taxpayers, supports local businesses, and understands the realities families are facing every day.” Kapenga also emphasized the importance of local control, particularly when it comes to agriculture, energy policy, and parental rights. “Decisions that impact our farms, our schools, and our communities shouldn’t be handed down by bureaucrats in Lansing,” he said. “They should be made by the people who live and work here.” While in Lansing, Kapenga connected with current State Representative Luke Meerman and Ottawa County Sheriff Kim Cole, continuing conversations about public safety, economic growth, and the future of the district. “These conversations matter,” Kapenga said. “Strong relationships and clear priorities are how we make sure District 89 is represented effectively.” As his campaign continues to build momentum, Kapenga says the focus remains simple: bring the voice of West Michigan to Lansing — and deliver real results back home. “Your support is what makes that possible,” he said. “Together, we can ensure our district has a strong, steady voice at the state level.”
